'"Thylali," he said, "we've unblocked a run out here. I can bring in enough rabbits to pull down this wall in four places. Why don't you come out?"

Thylali's reply, when is came, was low and gasping but perfectly clear.
"My Chief Rabbit has told me to defend this run and until he says otherwise I shall stay here."

Thylali (or Bigwig) is my favourite character in Watership Down, and this is one of my favourite scenes when the Efrafans get the shock of their lives as they realise that he isn't the leader of the Watership Down Rabbits, so there must be someone stronger around (actually the leader is that scrawny lame rabbit you guys saw earlier). It's also the part where Bigwig calls Hazel his Chief, and it always makes me smile.
